Hugo's Little Heroes | Sydney Alston - 11/13/19






In honor of World Prematurity Day - November 17 & the support provided by my College team, I’d like to share an update on Sydney. I refer to Jamie Conrad as my colleague and mentor in the article, but her guidance has been priceless to our family. We were introduced to Bee Mighty through Jamie and for that I will be forever thankful!

Sydney was born at 27-weeks & 2.0 lbs. Sydney has been granted the privilege as being selected by the non-profit organization Bee Mighty as the Mighty Bee for November 2019. The Bee Mighty organization partners with Novant Health and Sprite to collaborate with the NBA Charlotte Hornets. This collaboration allowed Sydney to be Hugo’s Little Hero which allowed her exclusive behind the scenes and on the court privileges during the Hornets vs. Grizzlies game on 11/13/19.

10 TIPS to effectively find swim lessons for Autism (any Age) HIP MOVE 9 Meet the autism swim instructor BEFORE the lesson If you are strategic enough to find someone you feel comfortable with, meet the instructor before committing to an actual lesson. This meeting can be in or out of water but it should happen BEFORE an actual paid lesson is scheduled. EVERYONE needs to be comfortable getting in the water. This allows you to see how the instructor communicates with your autism loved one and how they respond. If anyone is uncomfortable, better now than a mid pool meltdown.
